What Kind of Logo Do You Want?

How do you want your company

to be seen by the world?

Take the Tupee Studios logo. We are artists here, a little strange but fun. Our logo reflects the wackiness that we can’t possibly escape from. When making decisions about your company it’s important to grasp this. Do you want to look super corporate or more whimsical?

Symbol

The most common logo you will see out there is the pictorial logo that includes a “mark” or symbol. The goal for a logo like this is that it can eventually be separated from any text and still be recognized.

Wordmark

A wordmark is a logo that uses type alone. A clear and concise name that is unique to your company. Sometimes these types of logos use typeface that are specifically created for a particular logo and not a common font. Licensing issues prohibit some fonts from being used for word marks so if you have a particular font you want to use you will need to discuss with the designer prior to the design process.

Lettermark

Another common logo you will run across is the abbreviated, monogram or lettermark logo. It is usually a shortened version of the company’s name like an abbreviation or initials.

Combo

I would venture to say that most logos are a combination of a symbol and a lettermark or a wordmark.

Hidden Meaning

It’s important to let designers tell a story with your logo. Hidden meaning is  a great way to show that real thought went into your logo.

Emblem

These are some of my favorite logos. A logo that is formed into a badge or shield like shape. If I do a logo like this, I usually will have a second version with the elements in a simplified non-badge version. This way it can be used in circumstances where the badge design might not be as visible because of size or other factors.

Abstract

The best way to explain this logo is the kind that pharmaceutical companies use all the time. It makes a great corporate logo that encompasses a very large company which includes many divisions that might not relate. You can create some unique shapes that will last a really long time.

Vintage

Another favorite of mine is a logo that looks like it could be from an era long past. This type of logo may look old however it tells the viewer that there is longevity there that can be trusted. One of the P’s in Tupee Studios is a big fan of this style and believes that if you can see a logo etched on a glass door, you’re on the right track.

Mascot

Using a mascot for a logo can be a great idea for companies that really want to stand out from the crowd and show a fun side to their company.

Fun

Look at the Tupee logo! It’s meant to convey a fun and creative company. It expresses who we are all while being super unique. We want to stand apart from the crowd.

These are probably the main logo types you will see out there. When someone comes to me looking for a logo I will ask them to peruse this page so they can get a feel for what they like and be able to communicate it easily to me.
